Matt Shrewd Artist/Producer/DJ/Label Owner (AKA Shrewd, Distant Funk, Pushing Boundaries).
Matt Shrewd, originally from the legendary Shrewd Sound System Collective, a group of like minded underground house DJs from the Midlands Uk free party/club scene.
Being massively influenced from the likes of DIY & Smokescreen sound systems back in the early 90's Matts passion for DJing soon became apparent and he naturally progressed into the production side of the industry.
Matt's quirky live sounding funky bass and cheeky sampling soon got him noticed and things moved on very quickly, having numerous top releases out on some of the best underground house labels in the business, Myna, Drop, Guesthouse, Bambino, Kolour Recordings, Tango, Nightshift & Lingo Recordings to name a few!
With his continued success in the early 2000's Matt then progressed into launching his own independent Vinyl labels, with the help of Primal records owner and friend Olivier Desmet, it was from here Flavor Recordings/Shrewd Music & Gooch Records were born. Matt has just returned to producing again after a few years away after having his first release out 'Dusty Crimes Ep' on Odour Recordings, which received some great feedback and support from industry legends!!
